[ARCHIVED] Summer Reading Program Wrap-Up

Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading program was a great success again this year at the Newton Public Library. 560 kids participate in the summer reading program, and 62 teens.

Kids in 3rd to 6th grade who read more than 30 chapter books were entered into a drawing for a Kindle Fire, and the winner was Kalley Jansen. All kids who finished the program received a ticket to the pool party at Maytag Pool, with free pizza donated by Domino’s! Approximately 400 people attended the pool party. Finishers also received a child’s pass to the Blank Park Zoo, and a ticket to the Iowa Cubs Home Run Reader game.

Teens who finished the program were entered into a drawing for a Kindle Fire, and the two winners were Gerima Blair and Joe Hanes. Winner of the 1/2 hour flight over Newton donated by Johnson Aviation was Damon Reynolds.

The Adult Summer Reading Program ends August 25th.
