    Looking for a great way to give back to your community? Look no further! The Jasper County Animal Rescue League is looking for more volunteers! What will this entail you may ask? First, we ask that you attend our 1hr volunteer orientation, where you can learn about the ways you can give your time. We have a number of ways for you to stay involved with us! Some of those opportunities include: - Dog walking - Canine Enrichment - Feline socialization and enrichment - Marketing adoptable animals - Fundraising - Event planning - Basic cleaning - Shelter renovation - And more! We are dedicated to helping you find an area where you are comfortable spending your time. If you have a specific area you’re interested in learning more about, we encourage you to talk to staff about opportunities available in that area.

  1. Baby Storytime

    Join our Youth Services Librarian, Phyllis Peter, on Monday mornings for a special storytime designed for the youngest members of the family! Baby storytime provides a gentle and fun introduction to literacy through songs, stories, and finger plays. For newborns to 18 months with a parent or caregiver (siblings are welcome). Storytime begins at 10:30 am, then stay for play and social time after the program!

  2. Evening Storytime

    September 10, 2018, 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM @ Newton Public Library

    Volunteer Jess Moore, and education student at Drake University, will share stories with children in the storytime room. This program is suggested for children ages 3 to 9. Storytime includes books, music, and a very simple craft. No registration necessary.

  3. Yoga at the Library

    Certified yoga instructor, Meghan Davis leads an introductory yoga class for adults. No experience necessary! This class is sponsored by the Newton YMCA. This program is first come, first served, and spaces are limited. Doors open at 5:45 pm.
