There are currently six certified bicycle officers who make up the bicycle unit. The bicycle unit’s main function is to assist primary service officers during the summer evening months on patrol in the uptown area. The bicycle unit also enforces bicycle codes; to include proper lighting and licensing. The bicycle unit was utilized during the summer to assist with uptown events during the Hot Rod Power Tour in June 2010.
