Buddy Bear was first introduced on May 15, 1991 during Police Week. During this time, over 400 bears have been given out to children in distressing situations.

The Crime Free Multi-Housing Program was developed to assist property owners/managers in managing their properties. The program emphasizes cooperation among property owners, tenants and the City of Newton to help neighborhoods fight crime and disorder. It is our belief that by working together we can significantly reduce the negative impact crime has on our city.

The goal of the Summer Youth Police Academy is to promote youth interest in law enforcement as a career. To date, a total of 198 students have graduated from the Summer Youth Police Academy.
