The Newton Public Library Board of Trustees comprises five members who are appointed by the Newton City Council for six-year terms. The Board assumes direct responsibility for overseeing library operations, including the employment of a library director. Additionally, the Board holds the authority to grant final approval for the procurement of library materials and exercises exclusive control over all library funds. Furthermore, the Board engages in contracting with other library boards to avail services as necessary and fulfills the obligation of submitting an annual financial report to the Newton City Council.
