The Newton Fire Department Mission:

The below programs have been created to help us reach the last part of our department's mission statement.

Smoke Detector Installation

Smote detectors save lives! The Fire Department has smoke detector's available for installation. Please contact the Fire Department at 641-792-3347 for more information.

Hands Only CPR

Hands-Only CPR is a technique of CPR that does not use mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an "out-of-hospital" setting. The Fire Department provides information on this technique. For more information on Hands Only CPR you can contact the Fire Department at 641-792-3347.

Citizen Fire Academy

The Citizen Fire Academy held its first session in the Spring of 2016. The goal of this program is to enhance relationships between Newton residents and the Newton Fire Department. Citizen Fire Academy is designed to give a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the fire department in the community.

The Citizen Fire Academy meets once a week for six weeks. Most classroom instruction and practical exercises at the Newton Fire Station located at 410 S 2nd Ave W. This program will be physically demanding on most skills nights and a majority of the Academy nights will last the full four hours. Class topics included fire department operations, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, technical rescue and firefighting.
