Citizens Public Safety Academy

Want to learn more about Newton’s public safety agencies? Or are you interested in a police or fire career? 

The Citizens Public Safety Academy will be a collaborative effort between the Newton Fire Department and Newton Police Department to provide real-world training and experience to the citizens of Newton. More information about registration will be available at a later date.

  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Traffic and impaired driving enforcement
  • Motorcycle unit
Public Safety Academy

Please note:

  • There is no fee to take part in the academy. 
  • All applicants must be at least 16 years of age or older to participate.
    • A signed parental waiver is required if applicants are under the age of 18.
  •  A criminal records check will be conducted on all applicants prior to acceptance into the academy.
  • Participants must attend 80% of the session to graduate from the academy.
