Newton residents headed to the polls on November 5, 2019, to vote for Mayor and three City Council seats.
Current Mayor Michael L. Hansen will serve as Mayor for two more years in Newton. The full results of the race were:
- Michael L. Hansen – 1,308 (86.05%)
- Write-in – 212 votes (13.95%)
In the City Council race, the At-Large council seat will be filled by Randy J. Ervin. The full results of the race were:
- Randy J. Ervin – 1,059 votes (64.97%)
- Bryce Heitman – 561 votes (34.42%)
- Write-in – 10 votes (0.61%)
The other two City Council seats will be filled by incumbents. Incumbent Mark Hallam will represent Ward 1 and incumbent Craig Trotter will represent Ward 3. The full results were:
Ward 1
- Mark Hallam – 299 (96.76%)
- Write-in – 10 (3.245%)
Ward 3
- Craig Trotter – 344 (98.85%)
- Write-in – 4 (1.15%)
