[ARCHIVED] Newton Fire Department Responds Fire at Burger King on January 4

At 6:14 AM on January 4, 2020, the Newton Fire Department responded to a fire at Burger King, 725 1st Ave E, in Newton. When crews arrived heavy smoke was visible from the roof of the building.  Fire damaged the kitchen area of the building causing roof collapse. One firefighter received a minor injury and was seen and released from the hospital. Crews were on scene for approximately eight and one-half hours extinguishing the fire. Firefighters from Baxter and Kellogg assisted. 

Damage is estimated in excess of $400,000.  The Newton Fire Department and Newton Police Department are investigating the fire.
