[ARCHIVED] Newton WaterWorks Announces Central Water Tower Painting

Newton WaterWorks will be repainting the central water tower located on South 2nd Ave West, near downtown Newton. JR Stelzer Company of Lincoln, Nebraska, will be the contractor and will be staging at the tower at the end of this week (June 19).

The tower will be power washed before painting, and the contractor will begin painting June 23 or 24. The weather will dictate the start date for painting.

Parking on South 2nd Avenue West between 2nd Street and 3rd Street will be restricted as well as parking on West 2nd Street S between 1st and 2nd Ave. The contractor may also occasionally open and close S 2nd Avenue. The City-owned parking lot south of the tower will also be closed during this time.

The contractor will use a dry fall paint that is water-based. The contractor states that if any paint spots appear on your vehicle, they can be removed with warm soap and water or warm water at a car wash. The contractor will take as much precaution as possible to prevent any issues. The expected duration of the project may take up to three weeks to complete. The Newton Cardinal logo will be repainted on the tower.
