The Newton Police Department recently conducted a seatbelt usage survey that showed strong results by motorists in the community. On August 27, 2020, the Newton Police Department observed both vehicle drivers and their passengers for seatbelt usage. Overall, the survey found 93.2 percent of motorists and passengers properly wearing their seatbelts.
"The Newton Police Department would like to remind motorists to buckle up, slow down and obey all traffic laws," said Chief Rob Burdess.
Primary funding for the project was provided by the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
