[ARCHIVED] 2020 Holiday Light Drive Through Display

2020 Holiday Light Display

For the third consecutive year Clemon Maki Insurance will be the presenting sponsor of Newton's Holiday Lights which is a collaborative community event hosted by City of Newton Parks and Friends of Newton Parks.

"Simply put, without the generous contributions made by Clemon Maki Insurance the event would never have happened," said Jessica Lowe Vokes, Friends of Newton Parks President. "They believed in the vision to have a community light display in 2018 when it was just an idea and they have stood by the event to ensure no matter what 2020 brings we can still enjoy this new holiday tradition."

Due to substantial tree damage at Maytag Park caused by the Aug. 10 derecho storm the light display is moving temporarily from its holiday home across town to Agnes Patterson Memorial Park. Some display favorites from 2018 and 2019 will return and new additions will be unveiled for 2020.

"While it isn't what we had originally planned for the lights will be on and they include some fun new items for people to enjoy," said Jamie Murphy, assistant superintendent of park operations for City of Newton. "We are excited for the holiday light display to return!"

The light display will open each evening at 6 p.m. and will remain open through Jan. 1, 2021.

For 2020, the display is a drive thru event only and everyone is asked to remain in their vehicles at all times. Those wishing to view the lights should enter Agnes Patterson Memorial Park from N 4th Avenue E and proceed north through the park following directional signs. View a map here.
