[ARCHIVED] Newton's Snow Ordinance Information

Snow Ordinance Information Graphic

Snow season is upon us. Our snow ordinance states that on-street parking is prohibited when snow removal operations are declared. Our snowplows begin clearing the streets at 2" of snow accumulation (measured at the Public Works garage on Highway 14). Ticketing of vehicles parked on city streets will begin once snow plowing operations are declared. Vehicles may park on the street before snow removal operations are over if the snowfall has stopped and the road's plowed full width. Snow ordinance violation tickets are $35. Official notification that the snow ordinance is in effect is available on the website. You can sign up to receive alerts from our website or call 641-791-SNOW (7669) to see if the ordinance is active. We try to post on social media, but it may be AFTER snow operations begin.

Please visit www.newtongov.org/530/Snow-Removal for a full description of the City of Newton Snow Removal Policy.
