Per Iowa Code 384.15A, all cities are required to hold a public hearing and post notice if the proposed maximum property tax revenues for the upcoming budget year exceed 102 percent of the previous year’s tax revenues.
The Newton City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed the Fiscal Year 2022 City property tax levy during the regularly scheduled Council meeting on Feb 15, 2021, at 6 PM. There will be no significant increases in the budgets supported by the above-listed tax levies.
After adopting the proposed tax levy, the City Council will publish notice and hold a hearing on the proposed city budget.
