[ARCHIVED] Severe Storms Possible Later Today

The Des Moines National Weather Service has produced a weather briefing concerning storm redevelopment likely later this afternoon and evening, mainly across central and southern Iowa. The strength and location of afternoon and evening storms will be dependent on how the atmosphere recovers from this morning’s showers and storms. All modes of severe weather are possible, but large hail and strong winds main threats. Tornadoes will be a risk with initial storm development in the late afternoon and early evening hours.  By the overnight hours, the severe threat will begin to decrease as the flooding threat increases. Be aware of changing weather conditions and, as always, have a severe weather plan and be prepared to act if threatening weather approaches. Be safe.
