The Newton Fire Department responded to a commercial fire on the roof of Thombert, located at 316 E 7th St N, at 3:29 PM on October 9, 2021.
Employees discovered the smoke and pulled the fire alarm to evacuate the building. Fire crews found smoke showing from the roof upon arrival. A small amount of fire was found and quickly extinguished. Damage was mostly contained to an HVAC unit and electrical components in the roof near the unit.
Newton Fire was assisted by Baxter and Kellogg Fire Departments. Crews were on scene for a little more than an hour.
