[ARCHIVED] Changes to the City of Newton’s Snow Removal Policy and Snow Removal Parking Restrictions

City Council has approved updates to the snow removal policy which include changes to the City’s ability to impound vehicles left on city streets. If vehicles are left on public streets after snow hauling operations are active, they may be ticketed and towed. Below is more information in regards to the Downtown Snow Removal District and the Citywide Snow Plowing Operations. For all impoundments due to violation of the City's Snow Policy, an incident report will be completed by the officers on each tow which will include the date, time, location, reason for the two, registered owner information, vehicle condition and a brief description of any valuable that are in plain sight within the vehicle (this is done by State Code and Newton Police Department Policy).

Downtown Snow Removal District Snow Removal Parking Restrictions

When Downtown Snow Hauling Operations are active in the Downtown Snow Hauling District, during the hours of 12 A.M. – 6 A.M., vehicles can be ticketed and towed by the Newton Police Department. The Newton Police Department will attempt to make contact with owners of the vehicles. If no contact can be made with the registered owner of the vehicle, it will be towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.

The Newton Police Department will attempt to make contact with owners of the vehicles. If no contact can be made with the registered owner of the vehicle, it will be towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.
