[ARCHIVED] FALL HYDRANT FLUSHING

The Newton WaterWorks to flush hydrants

Beginning Friday, October 28, 2022, at 10pm until 6am, North of 1st Ave & the Bittersweet subdivision.

Concluding on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10pm until 6am, South of 1st Ave.

Hydrants are flushed several times a year to clear the water mains of internal corrosion and residue which naturally builds up in water mains.  While no interruptions in water service will occur, customers may experience some drop in pressure or some discoloration of their water.  The discoloration will clear up in a few minutes if the cold water tap is allowed to run.  Do not run hot water or do laundry until cold water side is clear.

Some customers may have questions why all hydrants are not flushed.  Only those that provide the greatest flow and those that are on dead ends are opened.  Should customers of Newton, Lamb Groves or surrounding areas have questions or concerns, they may contact the WaterWorks at 641-792-2003.
