We wanted to update you on the ongoing Alliant Energy H-Structure Removal Project. We have scheduled a pre-construction meeting for September 28th. Alliant's subcontractor, Michels, will begin mobilizing on October 2nd, and a second crew will arrive a couple of weeks later. Although this may change, we anticipate the initial starting point to be the transformer located south of the Salvation Army at 301 N 2nd Ave E. The image shows the areas that Michels will be working in during this phase of the project in red.
Please note that Alliant is still addressing a transformer shortage. They will proceed with installing underground conduits, ducts, and transformer vaults and will need to complete the remaining work later. As the case last year, the city will be responsible for restoring pavement in the public right-of-way and easements received by Alliant.
