[ARCHIVED] Citizens Help Update the Comprehensive Plan

The City of Newton is currently undergoing a process to update "Newton's Future: A Comprehensive Plan," a process that is set to occur once every 2 years to ensure the plan stays on track.

In the spring, 317 citizens participated in a National Citizen Survey. The results of this survey may be found here at http://www.newtongov.org/index.aspx?nid=595.

This past week, the City held two highly-interactive planning sessions with citizens. At these planning session, citizens formed small groups and together reviewed the City's vision and strategic goals. Additionally, these groups evaluated the current "things to do" in the Comprehensive Plan and developed new ideas and projects for the community to tackle in the coming years. Topics discussed include: Economic Development, Identity & Marketing, Community Aesthetics, Health, Education, Housing, and Transportation.
