[ARCHIVED] Volunteers Needed for Aurora Park Playground Project

Friends of Newton Parks and City of Newton’s Parks and Grounds Division are seeking volunteers to help with the upcoming playground installation project at Aurora Park. The playground installation will take place April 28-30.

“We had a tremendous turnout of volunteers for the Maytag Installation Project a few years ago,” said Nathan Unsworth, Administrative Park Superintendent. “We hope to see the same enthusiasm for this project with the Friends of Newton Parks helping to recruit volunteers.”

Several shifts are open to volunteers who will help in a variety of tasks. The first shift will be from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, April 28. Four volunteers will be needed during the Thursday shift to help prep the site for the following two days of installation. Twelve volunteers are needed for each shift on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30. The shifts will be from 8 a.m. to noon, and noon to 5 p.m.

“The Aurora Parks playground project is an excellent way for community members to get involved,” said Jessica Lowe, Vice President of Friends of Newton Parks. “We are encouraging individuals, businesses, churches and serve organizations to get involved to help complete the playground which will be enjoyed for decades by the citizens of Newton and those who visit our parks.”

To register to volunteer, contact the Newton Park Office at (641) 792-1470 or by email at nathanu@newtongov.org.
