The Newton Police Department, in partnership with the Jasper County Substance Abuse Coalition, hosted its first annual legislative forum on November 20th. Deborah Thompson from the Iowa Department of Public Health and Dale Woolery from the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy were on hand to discuss legislative issues as it relates to substance abuse and assisted in identifying priorities for Jasper County communities. Rep. Wes Breckenridge as well as elected officials from surrounding Jasper County communities was on hand for this valuable event.
