The Building Trades Board met on May 2, 2018 and hosted an open forum on the Building Code Updates and the final draft of the codes. Several local contractors attended. The robust conversation between the board and contractors was positive and helpful. At the end, one contractor commented on how positive the discussion was.
The Board then approved a unanimous recommendation to approve the code updates with amendments . The Fire and Building Code ordinance updates can be placed on the May 21st agenda, which can accommodate three readings and a July 1st effective date. This work completes one of the items on the City Council’s recent Action Plan.
In addition, the Building Trades Board also reviewed the D&D 2.0 program, but did not provide many comments.
