With the spring athletic season underway, Parks Operations staff has been very busy getting all the fields/ courts ready to go. This includes the prepping the playing surfaces, turning on the water to all the parks and the individual bathrooms, concessions and drinking fountains and making repairs to any of these items that may have occurred over the winter. Springtime also starts the mowing and fertilizing season, this makes spring a very busy time for the Parks Operations staff. The Newton High School Boys & Girls Golf teams are at the tail end of their spring seasons. Newton High School Tennis, Newton Little League, Youth Girls Softball, Newton Area Soccer, Adult Softball League, and Disc Golf seasons are underway.
Parks Operations staff constructed an Ag Lime bunker at the Adult Softball Complex. Ag lime will be stored inside the bunker for Parks Operation staff to utilize for making necessary repairs to the adult softball athletic fields throughout the season.
Parks Operations staff relocated disc golf tee pad for hole #1, as it was in conflict with the new Rotary Club seating Project at the Maytag Bowl.
