Earlier this year Community Services’ staff prepared a bid package to rehabilitate the two waterslides at Maytag Pool, which are 22 years old. Bids were received from contractors in Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin, with the lowest bid coming in at half of the original estimated cost. City Council then approved a contract with SlidePros of Oronogo, Missouri for this work. The contractor began work in mid-September, and is nearing completion of the project. Work included cleaning, sanding, joint sealing, offset joint repairs, and a new color coating on each slide. Some minimal touch-up work remains on the yellow slide, as the contractor had to order some additional coating product.
