Fire Chief Jarrod Wellik attended an all-hazards preparedness workshop for senior officials at the Polk County Emergency Management Agency in Des Moines on January 10, 2019.
The class was an 8-hour workshop that helped to define the roles of senior and elected officials in the management of disaster response. There were approximately 50 attendees, mostly from the Des Moines area.
The most important message was building relationships with key staff and partner agencies in a preparedness setting will pay huge dividends if the need for an actual response takes place.
