Join Newton Main Street and Newton Development Corporation at the Newton Main Street Office will host a "watch party" of the Greater Des Moines Partnership event on the future of retail followed by a local discussion of the topics covered. Coffee and breakfast snacks will be provided.
United Way of Jasper County's Coffee With a Cause is FREE and open to the public who want to learn more about non-profits and help make a difference in the community. Special thank you to Park Centre for being our site and coffee host.

Come enjoy a Valentine's Day Soirée full of murder, mystery — and matrimony! Valentine's Day themed murder mystery dinner theater event in Newton, IA. Ticket includes appetizer, entrée, sides, dessert and two drinks. All guests receive a complimentary Piper's Candy Box or a bottle of wine. Each ticket holder please choose one entree at the time of purchase (see ticket website). Deadline for registration is Feb 8, 2023, at 8pm.

Visit our Valentine's Day photo booth with your furry friends! Bring your pet and your own camera or phone and take photos in our decorated photo booth. Pets must be leashed or otherwise contained and house-trained. Pets must be accompanied by an adult, but the whole family is welcome to attend! This program is free to attend but donations towards the roof replacement fund are appreciated!
Registration is required to reserve your private photography time slot. Registration opens January 26th. Please call 641-792-4108 to register.
Storytime for newborns to 18 months with their caregiver. The storytime will run about 15 minutes and include an open playtime at the end.

This is an open forum for crafters to share their projects, ask other stitchers for assistance or troubleshooting, and enjoy crafting company. This event will be held in the library meeting room. No registration required.
Work on your resume, edit your cover letter, or complete an online application during our job-seeker support hours. Our Public Services Librarian will provide dedicated support for job-seekers on most Wednesday afternoons. The Newton Public Library is offering five special storytimes for children ages 3-5. The storytimes are STEM (science, technology, engineering, & math) themed, with materials received from the Iowa Governor's STEM Scale-Up program. Please register for each session by calling the library at 641-792-4108, or stop by the library to sign up. You may attend one or all of the sessions.
Now is the perfect time to start scanning those old family photos! Drop-in on the second Monday morning of the month to learn about our Memory Lab Digitization Equipment and have our Public Services Librarian scan your photos. Attendees may bring up to 15 photos per visit and a flash drive to store their scans on.

Join musician, Matt Woods for a live blues music concert at the library! This event is free to attend and will be held inside the library meeting room. Music lovers of all ages are welcome to attend. Join our NEW afternoon book club for adults! Everyone chooses their own book to read based on a monthly theme. Come and talk about your book! It's like a potluck of books... You may learn of a new title you want to read next! The February theme is "Romance".
Join us for teen board game club at the library! Learn to play games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, and Forbidden Island. New games will be introduced at each meeting. New and expert players welcome. No registration required.
Display your artistic talents and support the library at our Tiny Art Show & Fundraiser Silent Auction!
Pick up a 4"x4" canvas at the library with a $1.00 deposit, and create a mini masterpiece at home. Return your completed canvas no later than February 15th to have your deposit returned and be included in our Tiny Art Show & Fundraiser Silent Auction.
Art will be on display inside the library February 20 - 27. All submitted art will be included in our Fundraiser Silent Auction on February 27th, with proceeds going towards funding a new library roof.
Submissions should be family-friendly. All ages and abilities are welcome to participate!

Take home some amazing new art while supporting your library! Enjoy snacks and baked goodies, courtesy of the Friends of the Library, while bidding on your favorite miniature masterpieces at our fundraiser silent auction. Cash & check accepted. Proceeds from the auction go towards replacing the library roof!
Centre for Arts & Artists
The City of Newton’s Community Services Department | Parks & Rec and Centre for the Arts & Artists are inviting teens age 12 - 16 to create your own masterpieces! Artists get 3 days in creating their masterpieces of their choice of media of either drawing or painting followed by an art gallery open for the public to see their creations. Artists are strongly encouraged to attend the art gallery! This is a good experience to get a taste of what an art gallery is like and to hear feedback on their works.
