Event for parents of preschoolers sponsored by the Jasper County Health Department and the Newton Public Library. This is a chance for parents to connect and learn about resources in our community while your children enjoy storytime. Children attending will receive the book, "The Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister. The storytime is for ages 3 to 5, younger children are welcome to stay with their parent in the library meeting room. No registration required. Put on your zoot suit and join presenter Chad Lewis to follow in the footsteps of the Midwest's most infamous gangsters! Filled with deadly bank robberies, explosive shootouts, and daring kidnappings, this presentation lets the audience discover the Iowa locations where gangster history will never die. This program is free to attend and open to the public. No registration required.

Springing back with pride to serve a live music variety mix for all to enjoy with the great beverage selections, ambiance, and menus of local food options available to make it a night. The Washer City Agitators are John Mattingly, Jim Robinson, Lee Eckles, and Elaine Mattingly, with guitar-slinging duties provided by outstanding central Iowa talents.
As always, no cover charge. Must be 21 years or older.

Come and die your very own scarf. We will be using tissue paper to create a one of a kind scarf you can gift to a loved one or keep for yourself.
We will be using lightweight china silk habotai and the silk scarves will be 8" x 54".
Cost is $15 each for each scarf, 2 people can work on one scarf and just pay $15. This is a great parent/grandparent and child activity.
All ages welcome!
Children under the age of 8 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

If you haven't had a chance to check them out yet, take advantage with our free community movie that we partner with them for! We will be showing Paddington on April 27 at 10:30 a.m. free for all of the community at Capitol II Theatre!

Come and join the Newton YMCA for one of our most fun events, Healthy Kids Day! This event is FREE and open to the community and surrounding areas as a great way to get out and see what your community has to offer for our youths.
There will be fun for all ages! Ninja obstacle courses, story times for little ones, dodge ball for older kids, and much more! Jasper County Health Department will be there with the Newton Police Department doing free car seat safety checks and will be giving away free car seats! We will provide a free afternoon snack bag for the kids as well, provided by Wal-Mart!

Newton Kart Klub is a family owned business owned by Wes Stierwalt and ran by Josh Ryther. Ed & Dixie Peterson started The Klub in 1974. Ed Peterson is no longer with us but his dreams and visions of providing a fast, fun, competitive, family oriented sport still remain our focus today. It is our mission to provide kart racing available to as many participants as possible and to accommodate racers from different sanctioning bodies and still provide equal opportunity to all who participate. Our staff is courteous & professional and will always be working hard to improve in all aspects of our race program to create a SAFE, FAIR and FAMILY ORIENTED racing environment.

Join our Youth Services Librarian, Phyllis Peter, on Monday mornings for a special storytime designed for the youngest members of the family! Baby storytime provides a gentle and fun introduction to literacy through songs, stories, and finger plays. For newborns to 18 months with a parent or caregiver (siblings are welcome). Storytime begins at 10:30 am, then stay for play and social time after the program!
