Please join us on Monday, December 18 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall for a City Council Reception. We will be honoring outgoing Mayor Michael L. Hansen and City Council member Craig Trotter & City Council member Randy Ervin and welcoming incoming Mayor Evelyn George, incoming City Council member Joel Mills & City Council member Stacy Simbro, and re-elected council member Mark Hallam. Refreshments will be served and photos taken.

The Jasper County Historical Museum presents the 3rd annual Tree-mendous Christmas Experience! Discover a new festive look every year with over 200 beautifully decorated trees throughout the museum. Visit every Saturday and Sunday from December 2 to December 31. Wagner's Ring Cycle is spun as a witty Texas fable with five actors playing more than 30 outrageous characters at breakneck speed. Songs run the gamut from Broadway to Texas swing, from jazz to twangy country and western. Mismatched lovers who meet on the day of their shotgun double wedding, three generations of feuding families, a magic ring of power, wild west lariat tricks, a synchronized swimming revue, a song and dance tribute to the joys of guacamole, and the sweetest two-step ever to slide across a stage add up to wild comedy.

2023 - 2024 Jasper County Concert Association Concert Series - Yesterday Once More

Yesterday Once More, a tribute to Karen Carpenter, will perform 7 p.m. Dec. 10. Singer-actress Joanne O’Brien celebrates the songs of the late singer who formed one half of the duo The Carpenters. O’Brien illuminates the musical diversity and pop culture of the times by paying homage to iconic classics.

Newton Community School District's Christmas in the Gym

Annually, the NHS Key Club carries out a heartwarming tradition of collecting new toys for distribution through the Salvation Army to families across Jasper County. We kindly ask you to contribute by bringing in new, unwrapped toys to your school. Together, we can ensure that every child experiences a joyful holiday season.
