Hotel Maytag Ballroom
Winter is coming – and we want you to be prepared! Do you live, work or own a business in downtown Newton? Join the City of Newton and Newton Main Street on Thursday, November 18 at 8 a.m. at the Hotel Maytag Ballroom for an information meeting about downtown snow removal operations. The meeting will feature city staff sharing everything you need to know about snow removal, as well as coffee and donuts. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP to Newton Main Street at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The raffle is back and ready for the holidays. Buy a ticket to support United Way and be entered for a chance to win 31 prizes. Tickets are $20 each for entry into the prize drawing to take place Dec. 21.
The Proud to Know Newton radio show, hosted by Craig Armstrong and produced by KCOB, is aired every Thursday at 6 p.m. on KCOB 95.9 FM & AM 1280. The 30 minute show features an interview with a special guest about their organization, work or event. Guests range from City employees, non-profits, event organizers and business owners. Details for each show are posted online each week and the show is available to stream on KCOB's website.

Wondering what to read next? Check out our monthly mystery bags for adults! Mystery bags have a new theme every month and contain a surprise selection of 4-5 library books and an adult craft. Return the books to the library when you're done with them - keep the other goodies!
The November/December theme is "Holiday Spirit". The mystery bags will include a selection of festive and feel-good holiday themed books. The craft is an Altoid tin diorama ornament.
Registration for the November/December mystery bags opens November 1st, at 10:00 a.m. Call the library at 641-792-4108 or direct message us on Facebook to reserve your mystery bag.
Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers are invited to join us for Preschool Storytime on Thursday mornings. Storytime includes books, music, and a simple craft. Siblings are welcome to attend. No registration required. There will be no storytime on November 11th or 25th, due to Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving.
