    The Proud to Know Newton radio show, hosted by Craig Armstrong and produced by KCOB, is aired every Thursday at 6 p.m. on KCOB 95.9 FM & AM 1280. The 30 minute show features an interview with a special guest about their organization, work or event. Guests range from City employees, non-profits, event organizers and business owners. Details for each show are posted online each week and the show is available to stream on KCOB's website.

Mystery bags have a different theme every month and contain a surprise selection of 4-5 books and movies, an adult craft, and other treats. Return the books and movies when you're done with them - keep the other goodies! June's theme is "Beach Reads". The June bag will include a selection of books and movies about travel, sun-filled vacations, and adventures in faraway places. The craft is a hand-painted cactus rock planter.     Join us on the Library lawn for the Iowa State University Insect Zoo Open House! Entomologists and ISU student ambassadors will share up close viewings of unusual insects from all over the world. It is an Open House format, so come and go anytime during the 10 am to Noon time frame

    The pool is open to the public daily during the summer months. The pool does periodically close due to weather related issues or other concerns. All pool closing information will be posted on the City's website as a News Flash, as well as on the Newton Park and Recreation's Facebook page. The information will also be released to local radio stations.
